Choosing the correct helmet size is essential to guarantee maximum safety and comfort during equestrian activities. A helmet that is too loose may shift during use, reducing protection in case of a fall, while a helmet that is too tight can cause discomfort and headaches.
SIZE CHART

Choosing the right size is not enough: the helmet must perfectly fit the rider’s head shape. To ensure a flawless fit, KEP Italia offers two types of liners based on head shape: oval for the typical European oval heads and narrow for the narrow heads common in North America and Canada.

HOW TO MEASURE HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE
To find the correct helmet size, you need to measure your head circumference. Here’s how to do it:
01
PREPARATION
Get a tailor’s measuring tape or a flexible measuring tape. If you don’t have a tailor’s tape, you can use a string or a piece of cord and then measure its length with a ruler.
02
POSITIONING
Place the measuring tape around your head, about 2.5 cm above your eyebrows and ears. This is the widest part of your head and corresponds to the circumference you need to measure.
03
MEASURING
Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight. Note the measurement in centimeters. If your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size and using padding to adapt the helmet to your head.
04
VERIFICATION
Repeat the measurement 2-3 times to ensure consistent results. If possible, ask someone else to help you take the measurement for better accuracy, or visit one of our authorized dealers. Then consult the size chart to find the corresponding size.
HOW TO CHECK FOR PROPER FIT
Once you’ve chosen the helmet in the correct size, it’s important to check that it fits perfectly. Here are some tips to verify the proper fit of your KEP Italia helmet:
POSITION
The helmet should sit horizontally on your head, with the front edge about 2.5 cm above your eyebrows. It should not tilt forward or backward.
STABILITY
The helmet should not move when you shake your head or push it lightly with your hands. If it moves, it might be too large.
COMFORT
The helmet should be comfortable to wear, without painful pressure points. If you feel pain or discomfort in certain areas, you may need to adjust the padding or try a different size.
RETENTION
place. The strap should go under your chin and be tight enough to allow only one finger to fit between the strap and your skin.
VISIBILITY
The helmet should not obstruct your vision. You should be able to see clearly in all directions, including upwards when in jumping position.
DURATION
Wear the helmet for at least 15-20 minutes to check that it remains comfortable even after prolonged use. If you start feeling discomfort or headaches, you may need to try a different size or model.
