We believe that safety is a priority regardless of legal obligations; we therefore recommend that you always wear a protective helmet when riding and during stable activities.

From what age is it possible to use helmets?

KEP Italia helmets are suitable from the very first experiences in the saddle. Thanks to the internal padding system it is possible to choose the correct size, according to the size of the rider's head. It should be borne in mind that the choice of the appropriate model depends on the head size and not on the age of the rider.

Can I use a friend's helmet?

Thanks to the padding system designed exclusively by KEP Italia, it is possible to use a friend's helmet, as long as you check and/or have padding of the correct size. However, we believe it is preferable to have your own helmet, with padding suitable for the morphology of your head, of which you know the conditions of use.

Can I change the helmet padding? How much does it cost and where can I buy it?

The padding can be changed. There are different types of padding that change in shape and characteristics (lighter and more breathable endurance padding, suitable for summer activities; winter padding with earmuffs). The padding, which can be easily removed and repositioned inside the helmet, is available from our authorised dealers and/or from our online shop

In the event of a fall, if the helmet breaks, is that a good indicator of its quality?

The helmet breaking following a collision/impact is an indication of quality and high standards of protection. By breaking, the helmet absorbs the impact preventing the latter from damaging the rider's head.

Should the helmet be replaced in the event of a fall? Or can it be repaired?

KEP Italia recommends that the helmet be subjected to technical inspection by our company in the event of a fall, to check for any invisible damage affecting the safety of the device. Following the technical check, a report will be provided with information on the possibility of repairing the helmet. For more information, we recommend that you contact your dealer and/or contact the Customer Service.

Can the chinstrap be damaged?

The soft, eco-leather chinstrap is subject to a natural process of wear. For proper maintenance, we recommend cleaning it with a damp cloth after each use.
To avoid damaging the material, do not use detergents, alcohol or solvents. Products such as perfume, aftershave and creams (which contain alcohol) can damage the chinstrap.

Can the components on the helmet, covered with materials such as python, leather and other finishes, be damaged?

All leathers are sensitive to light and sudden changes in temperature, rain, etc. etc.
Even if treated in accordance with European laws that protect the environment and health, they are not wholly waterproof and therefore may undergo colour changes over time. The peculiarity of hides is precisely that of being alive; these changes must be considered as a virtue and not a defect.
