To clean the helmet’s outer shell, use a soft cloth (such as Kep Clean) lightly dampened with lukewarm water—nothing else. Avoid using harsh detergents, solvents, or ammonia-based products, as these can damage the shell material. After cleaning, dry your helmet thoroughly with a soft, clean cloth.

The inner liner of your helmet can be removed for more thorough cleaning. Please refer to your user manual for specific instructions. Generally, you can hand-wash the liner with lukewarm water and mild soap, or machine-wash it at 30°C. Rinse thoroughly and let it air dry away from direct heat sources. Make sure the liner is completely dry before putting it back into your helmet.

Helmet air vents can accumulate dust and debris over time. Use low-pressure compressed air or a soft-bristled brush to remove dirt from the ventilation channels. Ensure the vents remain clear to guarantee proper airflow.

The retention system (chin strap and buckle) can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Rinse well to remove all soap residue and allow it to air dry. Regularly check that the retention system works properly and shows no signs of wear.

KEP Italia uses specially treated python leather to preserve elasticity, softness, and natural appearance. As a natural material, color variations may occur over time. For cleaning, do not use any detergents. If dirty, gently wipe the leather with a soft, slightly dampened cloth. If the python leather becomes damaged, unfortunately, it cannot be restored or replaced.

The same recommendations for python leather apply to helmets with a natural leather finish. Periodically, you can use a wool cloth to restore the leather’s original beauty. Light scratches can be treated with a neutral wax or wax matching the leather color.

Check your helmet frequently for damage, cracks, or signs of wear the outer shell, retention system, and inner padding. If you notice any damage, consider replacing the helmet.

If your helmet includes removable or adjustable parts fixed with screws, regularly check that they are properly tightened. Do not over-tighten, as this may cause damage.

Some parts, like the inner lining or chin strap, may wear over time. KEP Italia offers replacement parts for many models. Contact customer service or an authorized dealer for more information.

If your helmet has sustained a significant impact, even without visible damage, it must be replaced. The inner shell is designed to deform and absorb the impact energy. After an impact, the helmet may no longer provide the same level of protection.

Even without impacts or visible wear, KEP Italia recommends replacing your helmet after 5 years of use. Over time, exposure to sunlight, heat, humidity, and sweat can cause materials to degrade.
